Building Websites Was Tedious Until I Discovered Site Builders

Site builder tools are a valuable option to everyone including both the novice and professional web designer. If you’ve ever tried building a website on your own, you know how time consuming it can be. With all of the HTML code to type, building a site on your own can take you months to design, not to mention all of the frustration involved. You probably already know that HTML code is not too forgiving; one small error can drastically change the look of your pages. All of this valuable time spent designing your site and fixing errors could be used in other areas of your business. With web builder tools you can avoid all of the headaches and spend more of your time effectively running your business. Using web builder tools is both hassle free and easy. The directions are simple enough for anyone to understand.
Another point to consider is the longer it takes to build your website, the more online sales you are missing out on. Many times people are tempted to just hire someone else to do the job for them, but this is usually not the most cost effective choice. Webmasters can often be very expensive, especially if they are charging you by the hour and not a set fee for the job. With web builder tools you can have a professional looking website up and running in no time at all. Unlike webmasters, web builder tools will not put a dent in your wallet. They also allow you to have more of an input on designing your site. This can be very important for two reasons. First of all, when hiring someone else to build your site it is often difficult to explain just how you want everything to look. You can tell them what you want, but your idea and their final product may not always match. If revisions need to be made to your site, this will take more time and may even cost you more money. Secondly you will no doubt want to make changes to your site occasionally. It can be a bother trying to contact a webmaster and set up a time for your site to be updated. Often times they may not be readily available when you need them. With web builder tools you have the option of making updates to your site whenever you choose.
If you own multiple websites and earn a great deal of your income online, you can greatly benefit from using web builder tools. While you may be able to effectively design sites on your own, think of all the time that must be spent doing so. Web builder tools can save you countless hours of time and allow you to concentrate more on running your business instead of working on your site. This extra time can be used to increase your income by learning marketing tools to help sell your products. Another point to consider is all of the updates that you make to your site on a regular basis. You may offer monthly specials or product discounts on a regular basis. Web builder tools allow you to make the necessary changes to your site without devoting a great deal of time. Making quick updates to your site is not a problem with web builder tools.
Most companies offering web builder tools understand that their customers have varying needs. That’s why they offer several different packages for customers to choose from. Whether you just need a small site designed to market your product, multiple email accounts, web blogs, shopping cart, or have a rather large website to build, web builder tools can assist you in designing the site of your choice. If you later decide to add more features or pages onto your site, upgrades can easily be made to your account. With all of the features they have to offer, web builder tools are a good option for business owners of all types.

Website Building Guideline 101

So you want to get your online business up and running but there’s one little problem – you need a website! For any business, big or small, a professional website is important if you want to attract potential clients or customers and create a solid foundation for continued success. But many people have no idea how to go about the process. Luckily, it’s actually quite easy to get a functional, well designed and user-friendly website online in a reasonable amount of time. And depending on your particular situation and budget, there are several options available to make your business goals a reality.
The first option is to hire a designer. If you are willing to invest a good sum of money into the initial stages of developing your business, hiring a professional website designer or web design company should be something to seriously consider. The job will cost you thousands of dollars (if you hire a reputable designer) but all the pressure and work will be on someone else’s shoulders. Spending a lot of money right at the beginning of your venture may seem a little risky, but compared to other business endeavors the cost – and risk – are minimal. And the amount of money you have the potential to make after your site goes live will far outweigh the amount of money initially invested in its construction. Also, if you expect a professional job, hiring a professional is the best way to attain that objective.
A designer will consult with you regarding what you need in a website – a simple basic website, flash-based design, and ecommerce sites are the most common. You will also discuss form, functionality, color scheme, graphics, and other important points. Sometimes content can be obtained through your web designer as well, or you can fulfill your content needs after the basic website design is completed. In the end, hiring a web designer offers you a lot of flexibility and gives you the ability to fully customize your website in all aspects of its design.
Go it Alone
If you don’t have the money to spend on a good web designer or feel it’s unnecessary for your purposes, there’s no reason why you can’t create the website yourself. And this option applies to everyone – even if you know nothing about HTML or web design. Of course, if you do know a little bit of HTML - or are willing to put your nose to the grindstone and scour the Internet and your local library to learn HTML - you can certainly build a website from scratch. But nowadays there are other ways to make your own business website without struggling with HTML or a costly designer.
Website templates, for example, combine the professional design talents of an experienced web designer with the cost-effectiveness of going it alone. Templates are ready-made web pages that a designer or design company sells for a small sum – the cost is so low simply because the template can be resold over and over again. In addition, if you purchase a website template that won’t be resold after you buy it the cost will rise but still ends up being much more affordable than working with a designer one-on-one. The cost is kept relatively low because, although the template cannot be sold to another person, the design was already created and the buyer agrees to purchase it “as is.”
When you visit a website selling templates you are given the freedom to browse through a wide selection of different styles of website designs. Once you find the perfect match for your business you simply purchase and download. All that’s left is to edit it using a simple HTML editor to add content, graphics – you name it. One such website template company I found that offers quality, reasonably priced templates is TemplateDogma (see the link in Resource Box).
The final option is to use an online website builder to do the job. This type of program holds your hand every step of the way so that you can build a website without knowing anything about computer languages or design techniques. Even if you use a WYSIWYG editor it is possible to get lost along the way, and as mentioned above, templates do require editing after you make the purchase. A website builder is the only option that essentially automates the entire process. You might not be able to customize every aspect of the site, as templates are usually part of the procedure, but adding content, pictures, charts and tables to the site is made entirely hassle-free.
As you can see, there are many different ways to build a website from the ground up. In the end, choose the option you think will lead you down the path toward online success and you’ll be happy with the results.

Link Building: The Next Step in the Web Design Process

The easiest way of improving your ranking in the search engines is to let them know that your website is important. How do you do that? Well, the best way is through the process of link building. Link building is the practice of encouraging other websites to link to your own website. If other websites are linking to your website, your “link popularity” will increase, search engines will deem your website important, and in turn, you should receive more traffic. Link building is a time consuming task, and it is for this reason that most all websites rank so poorly in the search engines. Many website owners are unaware that link popularity can have such an effect on their search engine rankings. This is good new for you. Start building your links now and establish your “web cred”.
Google, the Internet’s most popular search engine, measures a website’s link popularity through the use of Page Rank. To view a website’s Page Rank, just download the Google Toolbar. The toolbar will display the Page Rank of every website you visit, measured as a little green bar. A website’s Page Rank can vary from a low of zero to a high of 10. Don’t worry if your website has a low, or no Page Rank. Many websites only have a Page Rank of 1 or 2, but the Internet’s most popular websites possess a Page Rank of 8 or 9.
Search engines are not just looking for the number of links that point to a website. The most important aspect of the process is obtaining quality links. Quality links are links from website that possess a high Page Rank. Obtaining a link from a website with a high Page Rank is best, although any site with 1 or above is beneficial. Search engines also consider the theme of a website which links to you. It is best to get links from websites that are associated with the industry in which you do business. For example, my trade is website design; therefore, I work to obtain the majority of my links from other web design related websites.
One of the best ways to advance your link popularity is to offer quality and informative content to your visitors and hope for natural links. If they find the information interesting enough, they will naturally link their website to your own.
Directory submissions are probably the fastest and easiest way to obtain some inbound links. But, because Internet directories link to thousands of other websites, the value that they can add to your Page Rank gets diluted by all the other links. The one must-submit-to directory is The Open Project Directory (www.dmoz.org) . After this, it is best to search for smaller niche or local directories. Submitting your website to Canadian, Ontario, and even Windsor web directories will help let the search engines know which region(s) you are servicing. Then, you should submit to industry related directories to indicate to the search engines your line of business. A Google search can help you find these types of directories.
If you feel that you have a knack for writing, a good way to generate inbound links to your website is to write articles. These articles can then be submitted to article syndication websites, where other webmasters are free to use your article on their website. But, there’s a catch – they must provide a link back to your website in return for using the article. If you don’t have the time or drive to write an article, but you participate in an industry related discussion forum, you’re in luck. Just remember to include a link to your website in your signature.
The last way to generate quality inbound links is through reciprocal linking. This type of strategy involves contacting other webmasters and proposing a link exchange. Find some non-competitive, but related websites and simply e-mail them to see if they are interested. It’s best to already have their link on a page in your website before the proposition.
When employing any of the above linking approaches, it is imperative that you try to use targeted key words as part your link. The search engines read this text to determine what your website is all about. If your website involves “Red Widgets”, try to use this as part of your link text.
Conclusion
Link popularity is very important when attempting to rank well in the search engines. Link analysis is only going to get more important to search engines, not less.
This type of strategy is resistant to manipulation and justifiable way to measure a website’s importance. Therefore, the link building process must be given high priority in your Internet marketing efforts, and since it takes time, the sooner you begin the better.

Building a Website the Easy Way

Being an entrepreneur, I was anxious to stake my claim on the web and join the community of those who were making a living online. The only problem was, I didn’t have a clue how to build a website or the patience or time to learn all that code.
So, what did I do? I started a search for an easy website creator. My thinking was surely some ambitious entrepreneur had already realized the earnings potential of a website builder for the do-it-yourself person? As you can probably guess, I found one. Well, actually, I found quite a few. Of course, back then there weren’t nearly as many options on the fiber optic highway as there are today…so my selection was a bit limited when compared to today’s market. Back then was approximately six years ago, which at the speed of changing technology might as well have been the ice age.
I made my selection and started building a website. Was it easy? No. Remember I was inexperienced and soon learned that not all site builders are alike. My first attempt was definitely with a stone age product in a modern day world. Believing that all products, from a well-known company, are surely quality was my first mistake. While this company offered several affordable services and quality products, their easy website builder wasn’t one of them.
I began my search again. This time, however, I relied on the feedback from other website builders like myself. Hence, ask someone who has already been there, done that. After garnering a few referrals, I set out to try the mentioned services and finally settled on one.
Am I happy with my choice? Absolutely! So happy in fact I saved my money, earned on the web, and purchased a partner’s program with the company. You see, I was referring so many people to their services, I finally wised up and realized I might as well be earning from all those referrals….and now I am.
After much trial and error, I did learn a few important keys to online success and building a website. Here are a few tips to help you get started and stake your claim on the world wide web:
•Target your market. Don’t try to be a website for everything. Find your niche and fine tune your site to match.
•Stay away from dark background colors and wallpaper. Keep your site clean and easy to navigate.
•Add quality content. Keep your site content fresh and updated.
•Quality link exchanges do work. Exchange links with websites that fit the demographics of your site. Stay away from link farms.
Now that you have your website online, marketing and maintaining your site will be the key. It’s not like the movie, “The Field of Dreams - If you build it, they will come.” If you don’t market your website, guess what? They don’t come. It’s that simple.
Marketing is such a big and hot topic that I won’t go into it in this article, however, I do suggest doing a search on the web for keywords, “website marketing.” You will discover there are millions of responses and endless information and debate on what is the best solution. My experience: there is simply no one solution for this issue as the internet is ever changing and updating. Make time to read and learn about marketing your business online and locally. There are many great resources on the web which can help you stay informed and updated.

Building Your First Website - Things You Need To Know

Do you have a small business or idea that you would like to get on the web? This article will explain the basic steps to get your business or idea on the web.
There are many free ways to get an online presence but the best way is by having your own, unique, web site. There are a few thinks you will need to get this web site online but they are not very complicated or expensive.
The first thing you need is a domain name. A domain name is the address that you put in the address bar of your web browser. It usually looks something like www.somename.com. This is a unique name you will use to identify your business from the rest of the world. A domain name can be purchased from any number of registrars for under $10 a year.
The next thing you will need is web hosting. This is a service that lets you have a place to upload files and display them to the world when someone goes to your web site. Web hosting is another service that can usually be bought on the web for between $5 and $15 a month.
Once you have your domain name and web hosting set up, the real work begins. You will need to design a web site. There are any number of tools you can use to create a web site, such as Macromedia Dreamweaver, Microsoft FrontPage, Notepad, or another similar program. Designing a web site requires, at least, some knowledge of HTML (or XHTML). HTML and XHTML are static scripting languages that you use to tell your web browser how to show your information. There are other languages you can use to create web sites such as PHP, ASP, and ColdFusion. These languages are more complicated and are used to create dynamic sites and interface with databases.
Designing a web site can be a daunting task. There is always the option of having a design company create you web site for you but that can cost quite a pretty penny. Another option is to install a pre-made web site script that you can administer from a simple administration. Some of these script include Mambo, phpWebsite, e107, and many more. A script like this, usually, still requires some knowledge of HTML and/or web design because they are highly configurable and require a bit of tweaking to make it look the way you want.
It may sound complicated to start a web site but it really isn’t. All you need to do is take a bit of time to read some tutorials and examples, that are freely available on the web. You can learn the basics in no time completely free of charge.

Building A Website Directory That Works

There are a lot of directories on the internet and there is probably room for a lot more although building a directory that is beneficial to the users, webmasters who add their site and yourself takes a little bit of forethought and a lot of work.
There are many types of directories including general directories and niche (often reffered to as vertical) directories. There are also many ways these can be structured.
The first step in planning to build a directory is deciding what it will be a directory of. You could choose to be general and have a vast array of categories and sub categories where a website on any topic can be submitted or you can choose to have a niche directory which are often reffered to as vertical directories. Vertical directories are becoming popular with users and webmasters due to the entire site and it's listings being related to one topic.
Your next choice is whether to have static pages and create each page manually or use a script that creates pages, manages your listings, site submissions and more. Using a script is the popular and sensible choice and if you have programming skills you may choose to build your own. Otherwise there are numerous directory scripts available and some are even free, for example: PHP Link Directory, Barracuda Links Directory or WSN Links to name a few.
Once you have your directory up and running with all the categories relevant to a general directory or your chosen topic the next task is get listings as without those it's not much. For other webmasters to submit their link they need to be able to find your site so getting links from 'directory of directories' sites are a good place to start in promoting your site. Although there may be catch, those sites may not want to list yours if it's not populated with listings to some extent so choose some quality sites and add them to your categories and sub categories.
For a start you may need to give free listings to get things going although there's something to watch in who you list on your directory which is summed up by quality attracts quality and trash does trash. Screen your listings and be sure they aren't banned by search engines, low quality sites, scrapper sites or just plain spam. The quality of your listings will reflect the quality of your directory to users, webmasters and to some extent search engines.
Your next choice once your directory starts to grow is how you will benefit from your work. Choices here can be running Pay Per Click advertising, banner ads, affiliate ads or charging for links or maybe both.
To get submissions from quality sites and maybe payment for links webmasters will be looking at or for Higher the Google PR the better, well keyworded title and category description, low density of links/listings per page and the quality of the other sites listed. Here is a neat trick, add top ranking sites under the appropriate categories and other sites trying to achieve top ranking for that particular keyword/category title will probably submit to have their site listed.
From there it is a matter of constantly promoting your directory via links to your site, advertising and marketing.

Building Your First Web Site?

Before doing anything on the technical side, you need some kind of basic idea to work with. I suggest first getting some paper and a pencil. Start by sketching a layout of how you would like your web page to appear. For example, a simple title at the top, the area in which you would like any content, pictures and so on. Now its time to do some programing!
Don't let the word programing scare you. Anyone can learn and there are several sites that offer free tutorials. One such site is http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp. Although it is not necessary to be a top notch programer to build and operate your web site, you should learn the basics of html. I recommend that you thoroughly learn about tables. They are widely used and with them, you can create a professional looking layout (even as a beginner).
You can use any basic text editor, like notepad, to write, edit, and save your code (html). When saving your work for the first time, choose Text Document for type of file, then save with the extension htm (for example index.htm). Your home page (the first page people usually see) is normally saved as index.htm. To see how your page looks, double click on the file and it should automatically open up in your browser.
Now that you've got your web page ready to go, it's time to find a host (a place for your web page to live). Since this is your first site, I suggest you use Free Web Hosting. Some host will put advertising, such as a banner, on your site as the cost of free hosting. Others will only charge you to register your Domain Name (www.YourSite.com). Be careful not to accidentally sign up for extras such as url protection, spam control, etc. (unless you feel you need them) as they will add to your cost. These sites will have a limit on bandwidth (how much data that can be transmitted per month), email accounts, and maybe a few other things, but are still great for first timers. If later on you feel you need more, then you usually can upgrade. To find a host, just use any search engine and the keyword phrase Free Web Hosting.
Ok! You've sketched a layout for your web page, learned some basic html, coded your web page, found your host with the most (couldn't resist), and registered your URL (www.YourSite.com). Now it's time to upload (transfer) your file (web page ) to your host. To do this you need a FTP program. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. When using this application, there are usually two windows. The left window shows your computer files, and the right window shows the files stored on your host. For a good tutorial and to download a freeware FTP program, FTP Commander, go to http://www.nexcess.net/hosting/support/tutorials/ftp/ftpcommindex.php.
Now you should be up and running. But don't stop there. Continue to tweak, add pages, learn to link to other pages and sites, and frequently add new content. Who knows, you could eventually learn to profit from your creation.

Are you hoping to earn some decent money via the internet? Are you looking for a person or company to build you a website? Are you looking into ways to promote your website? Would you like to see an increase in traffic to your website? These are all questions to which a couple of years ago I would have answered yes to. I now have built up a network of people who I always use to help me in these particular fields.
In my opinion it is very important to establish a network of contacts on the internet. These people should be honest, charge a fair price, be willing to help and give advice and be happy to work quickly with good communication.
A few years ago I started to develop an interest in the web and thought that it would be a superb way to promote my speech coaching business. I must admit that at this point I knew nothing about the ins and outs of the net and did not know anybody who could build or promote a website.
I spent quite a long time phoning people who were advertising in places such as the yellow pages, the newspaper and of course the internet itself. The prices some of these people quoted were a lot higher than I could afford. I now have come to realise that these prices were basically a rip off as I have now met some brilliant web designers who are happy and willing to build a website at far cheaper rates.
As an example a contact of mine now builds me a type of information portal site for £150 plus free lifetime hosting. An example of one of these websites is at increase-pagerank.com. I have been working with this contact now for a number of years and he is extremely reliable and has taught me a lot about how the web works etc.
I have also met other contacts who are experts in website promotion. I have learnt a lot from these people and would now like to think of myself as some kind of expert. I now think that I know quite a lot about how to promote and a market a website. I have around eighty sites myself, which I constantly attempt to attract more visitors to each of them.
The way I attract this additional traffic is by attempting to build up the amount of one-way backward links to each site. One way of doing this of course is by writing articles like the one you are reading. This writing can be quite tiresome but there are sites such as articles-submission.com, who are happy to help you with this project.
In conclusion, be careful not to pay over the odds for web design, web marketing or web promotion. Meet and build up a network of web experts who you can learn to trust and establish a long term business relationship with.
